One of the requirements is to leverage your current VMware infrastructure. Of course your plate is already full, and now you need to learn a new platform. So here are a few things that should ease your mind when considering OpenStack. First, OpenStack is a framework that can use your current hardware and software infrastructure One of the requirements is to leverage your current VMware infrastructure. Of course your plate is already full, First lets focus on VMware Integrated OpenStack (VIO) and what it is. Simply put VIO allows the use of OpenStack framework on your current VMware vSphere infrastructure Author : Daniel Clow URL : Annoucement: this platform is in READ-ONLY mode
VMware has released a relatively new product called VMware Integrated OpenStack (VIO). This product is free for our customers who have Enterprise plus licensing, but actual support for the product is on a per CPU cost basis VMware Integrated OpenStack requires a license key to provide functionality. VMware Integrated OpenStack licenses are available for Data Center Edition and Carrier Edition. Data Center Edition is available as a standalone product or as part of VMware vRealize Suite. It is designed for enterprises that want to build a private cloud based on OpenStack

VMware Integrated OpenStack is a VMware supported OpenStack distribution that makes it easy to run an enterprise grade OpenStack cloud on top of VMware virtualization technologies. VMware Integrated OpenStack is ideal for many different use cases, including building a IaaS platform, providing standard, OpenStack API access to developers, leveraging edge computing and deploying NFV services on OpenStack ESXi 7.0 requires the NX/XD bit to be enabled for the CPU in the BIOS. ESXi 7.0 requires a minimum of 4 GB of physical RAM. Provide at least 8 GB of RAM to run virtual machines in typical production environments. To support 64-bit virtual machines, support for hardware virtualization (Intel VT-x or AMD RVI) must be enabled on x64 CPUs If one is already using VIO, they can use OpenStack's built-in upgrade capability to upgrade seamlessly to VIO 5.0. VMWare Integrated OpenStack(VIO)5.0 would be available in both Carrier and Data Center Editions. The VIO-Carrier Edition will addresses specific requirements of communication service providers (CSP) Requirements. Valid TAP membership ; Membership in the SDDC Integration Program is required to be eligible to access this package; Partner Solution vetting (approval required). Luckily VIO has a built-in export configuration capability. Simply navigate to the OpenStack deployment (Home -> VMware Integrated OpenStack -> OpenStack Deployments), all OpenStack settings can be exported with a single click: In some ways the exported configuration file is similar to traditional site hiera data except much simpler to consume This is a comprehensive certification program that ensures interoperability and operational readiness between third-party-developed network functions and the ETSI-compliant VMware Telco Cloud platform. The program helps ensure that CSPs can rapidly onboard and deploy multi-vendor network functions with the VMware Telco Cloud platform ansible-role-vio. An ansible role to deploy VIO ova, deploy VIO Cluster. This role also creates the floating ip network. Addtionally this role will do a quick validation of the VIO environment by creating a demo project, create or add a demo user, deploy a heat stack into the newly created project Download VMware Integrated OpenStack and boost developer productivity by providing developers with simple, standard and vendor-neutral OpenStack API access to VMware infrastructure VCIX6-DCV special designation validates your expert level skills in designing and deploying VMware V6 infrastructure solutions in multi-site, large enterprise, virtualized environments. This new special designation is earned when you complete both VCAP6 level certifications for the Data Center Virtualization track

Well, that was an introduction to VMWare vMotion and the requirements you need to comply with if you are planning to use it. Of course, vMotion is a massive concept in itself, and it would indeed require a bit of technical expertise and be getting used to the functionality I am upgrading from VIO 5.1.0.2 and completed step 10 of the migration procedure. However, after running the commands, the deployment never started.. Networking Requirements. The vSphere Integrated Containers appliance and virtual container hosts (VCHs) have specific network requirements. If you use standard networks, create a VMware vSphere Distributed Switch, and create a dedicated port group for use as the bridge network for each VCH
